The border was supposed to cut through Lake of the Woods, but the map was wrong.

On a profile of the Angle in 2016, CBS Sunday Morning broadcast that the only way to get to Minnesota from the Northwest Angle  in US is through Canada.

A resident of the town, Jeanette McAtee 3 days ago reveals her terror when she remembers her husband’s suggestion they move to the Northwest Angle. This is the northernmost point in Minnesota. In addition, it is one of the most isolated slivers of the American dream.

She recalls that she didn’t want to go through the stress of crossing an international border twice just to visit the doctor’s office. This is an issue many U.S residents in the Northwest angle face.

However, she rises now from her chair in the wood-panelled shop she and her husband built. This community she never wanted to live in is now where her life has developed with her husband.

It’s true when they say you adapt to an environment.
